West Marshall AgEd Dept receives STEM Grant

The West Marshall AgEd Department is excited to announce that we will once again receive a Iowa STEM Scale-up Grant for 2013-2014. The grant provides funds for curriculum , training, and materials for the (CASE) Curriculum in Ag Science Education.  Currently funds from 2012-2013 grant funded a new curriculum in Ag Ed 1 that focus on (AFNR) Agriscience Food and Natural Resources.

Ag Ed II Students work on Interest in Agriculture Speeches

The Ag Ed II students are working on the communication skills this week in class.  Students were to start by writing a five minute speech about an interest they have in the Agriculture Industry.

Survey of Animal Industry

The Survey to Animal Industry Class is a concurrent enrollment with Ellsworth Community College. Students enrolled receive both high school and college credit while enrolling in this class during their junior or senior year.
Student work on conformation diagrams during one of the labs held during this class.

North Central District FFA Greenhand Fire-up


Twelve members of the West Marshall FFA Chapter recently attended the North Central District Greenhand Fire-up at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls.  These new members of the FFA learned about opportunities in the FFA and learned valuable leadership skills that can help them be successful in their future.

North Central District Soils CDE

The West Marshall FFA Chapter had five FFA members participate in the North Central District Soil Judging Career Development Event at Ellsworth Community College on September 25.  Alex Schaper judges a soil pit for productivity as one of the activities during the event.  Other members participating were Jared Johnson, Ben Newhouse, Garrett Nichols, and Jake Goecke.

 

Ag Ed 2 Soil Profiles

The Ag Ed 2 class recently finished a unit on Soils.  Student preform a lab creating a soil profile using soil profile tubes and soil from around the school.


Ag Ed 1 Learning the Power of Expression in Public Speeches

The Ag Ed 1 Class this year is being introduced to a new curriculum called CASE: Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources.  This year a variety of topics from Career Exploration, Communication Skills, Animal Science, Plant Science and Ag mechanics will be presented to the Ag Ed 1 students.
